Two Words Jason Uses to Describe Himself: Advocate and Leader

One Fun Fact: Jason got to meet President Obama in the Oval Office!

Jason Corning is a 25 year old self-advocate who was born and raised in Wisconsin. Today, Jason lives in the Baltimore, Maryland area and works as an IT project manager for the United States Department of Defense. Jason has been legally deaf blind since birth but this hasn’t stopped him from graduating from high school, participating in an internship with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), graduating from college, securing himself a career with the government, and even meeting President Obama!

Was it always easy for Jason? Of course not…but was all of his hard work, effort, and commitment to not giving up worth it – absolutely!

PEAK had the pleasure of bringing Jason to share a keynote presentation with participants of our 2011 Conference on Inclusive Education. His message emphasizes the importance of capitalizing on opportunities when they present themselves, the power of the encouragement he received from his family and friends, and the positive impacts he experienced by connecting with older mentors.

But we thought there isn’t a better person to tell Jason’s story than Jason! Click on the video below to watch Jason’s full keynote. Thank you, Jason, for being such a shining example of the possibilities that can come from perseverance.
