PEAK was honored to have Patrick Schwarz, an incredibly engaging author, motivational speaker, and leader in Education, as a keynote speaker at our 2011 Conference on Inclusive Education!

Those of you who had the joy of seeing Patrick at the conference should have already received his article, “Special Education: A Service, Not a Sentence.” But, for those of you missed him we wanted to share!

In his quick and easy-to-read article, Patrick provides examples of accommodations and supports that can be             utilized in classroom instruction, and outlines the key components necessary for schools to be successful with an inclusive education model. The strategies Patrick shares in this article provide us with concrete steps we can each take to realize one of his guiding philosophies:

“Everyone belongs everywhere in our schools and community.” ~ Patrick Schwarz
